Frequently Asked Questions
Compound 49
The Game

What languages is the game available in?

Due to some language-specific components, Compound 49 will initially only be available in English.

Does the game actually include components with real lights?

Yes! The game will include flashlights, the four-part Compound light, and several streetlamps. These both add to the atmosphere and physically represent the light mechanics in the game.

Does the game need to be played in the dark?

For the best experience, Compound 49 should be played in the dark. Having limited vision of the board and being forced to use the various light-producing game components to make decisions is an important mechanical feature of the game. While you can play the game in a lit room, it will lose some of its challenge and suspense.

Can the game be played solo or co-op?

Yes! The main game mode is cooperative, but there are also fully supported solo and competitive modes.

How long does the game take to play?

Compound 49 can be played many ways. Each session takes between 1-3 hours depending on the complexity of the scenario, but you can also play full-length campaigns over multiple sessions, providing over 100 hours of unique content.

Is this a legacy game?

While Compound 49 can be played as a long-form, 100+ hour campaign, it is not a Legacy game. You can play individual sessions and chapters disconnected from the main story, and no components are changed or destroyed during play, so it can be stopped and restarted at any time. There are secrets and spoilers to unlock in the campaign, but nothing will be permanently altered.

Where can I buy the game?

Compound 49 is not yet available for retail, but you can back the Kickstarter here.

What is Kickstarter?

Kickstarter is a crowdfunding platform that helps small creators get their projects off the ground. Potential buyers can pledge money towards a total goal, and if that goal is hit, the product gets made and everyone receives their items. If the goal isn’t hit, you get your money back. You can find our Kickstarter FAQ here.

Does the game include miniatures?

Ideally it will. The basic version of the game only includes cardstock standees, but if we hit a higher pledge goal on Kickstarter, we will upgrade them to plastic 28mm miniatures. Check the Kickstarter to see how much progress we’ve made towards that goal!
